Active attraction of local resources into the economic turnover in the new economic conditions and employment of the population are one of the main priorities of the regional development. From this standpoint, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is occupying a special role in the attention paid by the state and in the work that is carried out to develop the private sector. Thus, the projects which have been implemented in the private sector in recent years, made a significant contribution to the economic diversification.
In order to support employers in market competition conditions and increase business activities, creation of the voluntary union around the single confederation has become a significant event. Operating since 2006, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic makes efforts in this area and provides support to ensure successful commercial activity of entrepreneurs.
At present, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic numbers 36 members. The goal of the entrepreneurs, united in this organization, is to extend their contribution to the social-economic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the current situation, as well as provide abundance of products in the local market and arrange more qualitative services.
Considering one of its main duties to be guiding new entrepreneurs at the start of a business, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is acting in this respect to protect entrepreneur’s rights, and to help make maximal use of the favourable conditions created through close cooperation with government agencies and international organizations. At present, there have been favorable conditions and a beneficial commercial environment established in the autonomous republic for reaching this goal.
The support lent by the state to the development of the private sector is always felt in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Despite the challenges caused by the blockade conditions that Nakhchivan faced formerly, businessmen gained big success in implementation of their projects, benefiting from the state support.
Along with this, the market economy is a challenging environment requiring the solution of certain problems and attention of entrepreneurs. This, in its turn, causes the necessity for lending a methodological support to businessmen who have recently started a commercial activity. Thus, every entrepreneur has to be provided with information so that he can carry out an assessment of economic opportunities. These investment and innovative opportunities required for a business activity cannot be realized without a relevant support. Therefore, it is hard to imagine the development of entrepreneurship without a state support.
Modern business has challenging features. The right assessment of the market competition, survey of the world market, selection of activity on basis of the real demand and priorities of the economic policy implemented by the state, pose new tasks to entrepreneurs. From this standpoint, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic spares no efforts in helping to survey and assess market opportunities. These are one of the main issues that are of interest to businessmen in current conditions.
This main feature of the entrepreneurial activity is impossible without an expansion of the range of the business vision of a businessman. It is particularly important to ensure regular participation of Nakhchivan entrepreneurs in exhibitions, fairs, conferences and other business meetings. For this purpose, entrepreneurs, representing the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, periodically attend events hosted in the capital of the country and foreign countries. The Nakhchivan entrepreneurs already maintain relations with a high amount of commercial enterprises of Europe and Asia, as well as receive invitations to exhibitions and forums. The Confederation’s website www.nsk.org.az has been created where interesting information for businessmen is placed.
The unions of bee-keepers, poultry farmers and hothouse managers, established by entrepreneurs, are also operating in close coordination with the confederation and together with their members do their utmost to reach the goals. Special courses are arranged to inform entrepreneurs about the needs of the modern business. Meetings attended by representatives of the government agencies are arranged in order to solve matters which are of interest to them.
The national business communities are a strong pillar of the Azerbaijan economy. On April 25, 2002 in the closing speech at the historic meeting with the entrepreneurs of the country the national leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, who especially highlighted the development of this important industry, said: “We bind the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan directly with entrepreneurship and its development, and in the future we will conduct activities necessary for the development of entrepreneurship”.
When we look back to the path we have traveled, we see that the economic strategy implemented in a very short time in the Autonomous Republic, which previously had to import even the simplest products from abroad, has produced results. Therefore, mutually beneficial relations between the public and private sectors have enabled to implement many projects, prevent dependence on imports, improve investment attractiveness of the Autonomous Republic and, most importantly, benefit from the done transition to the role of an investor for neighbouring countries across the region.
