Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Skourletis, what hopes does Greece rest on the implementation of the TAP project? Is the country going to change the conditions for transit of Azeri gas to other countries of Europe?
Panos Skourletis, Minister of Environment and Energy of the Hellenic Republic: The Trans Adriatic Pipeline is a project of strategic importance, contributing to energy diversity and securing energy safety for both Greece and the EU. After extensive talks with representatives of the pipeline’s company, we managed to bring the project into the next implementation phase. I’ve already signed the amended ESIA - Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, concerning changes on the pipeline’s pass through and the European Commission is expected to be notified of the State Aid Exemption. We expect next steps to be taken shortly and without any further obstacle. There is, thus, a positive stance with regards to the pipeline, with no surprises from our side.
