The biggest event in the energy sector of the Caspian region - the International exhibition and conference ‘Caspian Oil and Gas’ is traditionally scheduled on the first week of June. For already 22 years the exhibition and conference has been defining the major trends in oil and gas industry and giving a strong impulse to development of the industry. It is not simply a communication area, but a meeting place for the entire field. The leading specialists and main players of the oil sector of the region attend the exhibition every year. The exhibition and the conference receive a special attention and support of the state structures. The high status of the exhibition is maintained by the annual participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in its opening ceremony. High-ranking guests gather together at the exhibition and leaders of a number of states send congratulatory messages to the event participants every year. The Ministry of Energy of the Azerbaijan Republic and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is providing an invaluable support to the project. The exhibition and the conference are organized by ITE Group and its partner Iteca Caspian.
Caspian Oil and Gas is an exhibition brand famous far beyond the country. This is a landmark event for the entire region, forming the information background of the oil and gas industry. The initiative of holding the International specialized exhibition in oil and gas sphere in Azerbaijan belongs to National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The first year when the exhibition and conference was held it involved 150 companies from 12 countries and was marked by the success and highlighted the unique format of the exhibition and conference compared to other oil and gas events. Up to present the Caspian Oil and Gas has been an effective area for presentation of the rich oil and gas and transit potential of Azerbaijan, its attractiveness for foreign investors, innovations in world energy and a place for the leading professionals in the sphere to meet, a place where key agreements and contracts on further cooperation are regularly signed. The exhibition annually gathers more than 10,000 guests, participants and specialists in the sphere. The list of constant participants of the exhibition, as well as the sponsors of the event includes the world leading oil and energy companies, like BP, GDF Suez, Total, Petkim, Turkiye Petrolleri and many others. For the Azerbaijani companies working in oil and gas sector the exhibition has opened up a broad range of opportunities for cooperation with foreign companies and application of new technologies in local manufacturing and production of hydrocarbons.
This year the exhibition is to host 310 companies from 27 countries. Of them 80% are famous companies with a world name. Such countries as Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Great Britain, China, Turkey and Russia are represented by national groups as well.
New participants are attracted to Caspian Oil and Gas every year. In a geographical sense these are the companies from Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Czech Republic and other countries. For the first time the Azerbaijani exhibition will involve the Czech national pavilion including 25 companies. The Italian pavilion which has never been represented in the Azerbaijani market will function separately. There are also new companies among sponsors. Today the exhibition and conference is presented by 21 sponsors.
The exhibition is to consist of the following thematic divisions: innovative technologies in the sphere of oil production and transportation of energy sources, oil and gas equipment, provision of the systems for oil and gas storage, existing, future oil and gas projects in the region, environmental technologies, etc.
The traditional Caspian Oil and Gas conference will be held at JW Marriott Absheron Baku hotel beginning from June 3. As a recognized international platform, a key event in oil and gas sector of the region, the International oil and gas conference Caspian Oil and Gas has been gathering together the leaders of the highest level for already more than 20 years to discuss the major oil and gas projects of the Caspian region and ensure energy security. This year the annual conference is to involve more than 500 delegates from more than 30 countries. More than 50 representatives of state structures, leading experts of the oil and gas industry, heads of major oil and gas companies from various countries of the world will deliver speeches at the event. The plenary session of the conference will cover the topic ‘The role of Azerbaijan in the safe energy supplies to Eurasia’. The Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Natiq Aliyev is also due to speak at the plenary session. President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev and others are also expected to render speeches. Such issues as expansion of international cooperation in implementation of oil and gas projects, financing and provision of the sustainable development of major oil and gas projects, diversification of oil and gas transportation from the Caspian region, expansion of the energy resource base and opening of new opportunities, provision of environmental security in the Caspian region, review of petrochemical sphere and oil refining in Azerbaijan and prospects of their development will be on the agenda. The issues concerning environment and new energy sources will also be touched upon.
Such annual meetings are very important for specialists as well as for the entire sphere, since they are carrying an extensive flow of information, experience and progressive technologies. Participation of a number of European countries and heads of oil and gas companies of the region in the meeting creates ideal conditions for discussions and reaching solutions in different issues.
It has to be noted that the history of oil production in Azerbaijan clearly reflects various kinds of art. And the exhibition has repeatedly highlighted this amazing link. This year the art exhibition ‘Nobels’ brothers and Baku oil. Premium’ is prepared at the Baku Expo Center as part of Caspian Oil and Gas this year.
