Caspian Energy (CE): Caspian Pipe Coatings is a unique pipe-coating company in the Caspian region. Which achievements and success are noteworthy?
Azer N. Isayev, Director, Caspian Pipe Coatings (CPC) LLC: The need for establishment of pipe coating business arose in Azerbaijan after the Contract of the Century was signed in 1994. The pipe-coating plant was founded in 2002 owing to the efforts of the then Vice-President of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. After getting registered again, Caspian Pipe Coatings LLC has become an entirely local company since 2007. SOCAR and Azertrans are the founders of the company. Its major clients are SOCAR and BP.
Our company lends services on external anti-corrosive coating of different diameter pipes, inward cleaning and coating of pipes, concrete coating and anode setting. There are rail lines and a pier on the plant area, making it possible to perform efficient operations on loading/unloading of pipes and containers. It helps to provide full-scale logistics services as well.
Starting from 2003, CPC has performed anti-corrosive and concrete coating of different diameter pipes as part of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) and Shah Deniz fields related EPSA, as well as the projects on construction of oil, water and gas pipelines.
Successful provision of services for three-layer anti-corrosive coating and concrete coating of pipes as part of the Shah-Deniz II project will be an overriding priority for CPC in 2015-2016. SOCAR’s key role in implementation of this project is particularly noteworthy.
Scheduled upgrading of equipment at anticorrosive and concrete coating shops, construction of new rail lines, including performance of necessary infrastructure work, have been carried out starting from August 2014. Unloading of pipes has been commenced and continued. Pipe coating work has been launched since March 2015. 350 local employees are involved in the project implementation. More than half of them have been working for the company since its establishment.
In general, within 13 years CPC Company insulated different diameter pipes with the total length of over 2500km.
CE: Does CPC ensure quality of its services in compliance with HSE standards?
Azer N. Isayev: Our company attaches paramount importance to this issue. Involvement in many projects with different technical requirements helped us to create a single system controlling a whole production cycle, including control over a quality of received raw material, loading/unloading process, delivery of coated pipes to a customer’s point and safe performance of operations. To improve knowledge and quality of services, CPC specialists regularly take special training courses both in Azerbaijan and abroad. The Company has been successfully certified against ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards. Applying all these international standards including the advanced experience of foreign companies, our specialists manage to get their job done on the highest level.
Conformity of the end product to quality standards and specifications, conducting tests at different stages of production, holding internal audits with the purpose of verification of compliance with the procedures and regulations, implementing preventive actions in order to eliminate any possible accidents, actions taken to provide safety, protect health and environment form the basis of successful activity carried out by CPC.
CE: CPC has a broad experience of successful involvement in projects. What in your opinion the key to success is?
Azer N. Isayev: The cornerstone of success is, first of all, reliability. The slogan of our company announces «Your reliable partner in pipe coatings business». We attach high importance to these words. Dynamic development and constant improvement of quality of services rendered are key factors for ensuring reliability for our customers and partners. Our each participation in a new project enables us to improve services and achieve a qualitatively new level of development.
