SOCAR-AQS LLC was established in 19th December 2007 between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Absheron Drilling Company (AQS) as a joint venture, that provides integrated drilling and well management services. Scope of activity of the company covers provision of such services as: well design and planning, drilling of oil and gas wells, drilling of directionally deviated wells, drilling of horizontal wells, well completion, well workover, sidetracking, drilling of multilateral wells, casing running and BOP repairing and testing services. At present time, the geography of activity of the company covers the Azerbaijani Sector of Caspian Sea. All operations are carried out by the specialists of the company with the highest quality and strict compliance with European industrial standards, which ensures reliability and efficiency of the works, and enabled SOCAR-AQS to gain the reputation of a perfect partner in the territory of Azerbaijan and other countries.
Within the frames of their activities, SOCAR-AQS actively cooperates with the companies from Western Europe and USA. Greater part of the equipment is purchased from Europe. There are also partner relationships established with the companies from Russia, USA and Japan. “We want to be leaders; therefore, we cooperate with the leaders” – Ramin Isayev, General Director of SOCAR-AQS says.
SOCAR –AQS is member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). SOCAR-AQS possesses certificates of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 International Standards. In addition to that, the company had two system audits conducted by the American Petroleum Institute (API).
One of the core values of SOCAR-AQS is quality. The company pays special attention to compliance of safety regulations and transparency of its activity. Under conditions of rapid technological progress, focus on innovations gains special importance. The company has been actively implementing latest technologies. SOCAR-AQS fully upgraded the infrastructure and equipment on the drilling platforms.
Despite the fact that SOCAR-AQS have been implementing their activities for only seven years, the company has managed to achieve a considerable degree of success, and even broke new records. In particular, one of the achievements of SOCAR-AQS is construction of horizontal well #350, which was the first well ever drilled in the national oil industry. The well is located on SWG and was drilled to penetrate Fasila Layer. Maximum deviation angle of the well is 84 degrees, and target depth is 3450 m. Time spend for drilling of the well was 65 days, as opposed to 129 days set by the customer.
Besides, SOCAR-AQS set a new speed record in drilling a well on SWG. Well #352, with target depth of 2950 m, is the fastest well ever drilled into Fasila Layer on SWG. The works commenced on 12th May 2014 and finished on 6th June 2014, after the target depth of 2961 was reached, i.e., it took 26 days to drill the well. Previous speed record, which again belonged to SOCAR-AQS, was 29 days, when well #351 was drilled for 29 days from the same stationary platform #13 to the depth of 3100 m.
Successful activity of SOCAR-AQS was not left unattended. The company was awarded with the Caspian Energy Integration Award as “The Best Drilling Company” for several years running. SOCAR-AQS took part in the first international forum “Caspian Energy Forum-2014”, which took place on 23rd April in Baku, within the frames of the 15th anniversary of the “Caspian Energy International Media Group”. The company made a presentation on the subject: “Ecologically clean drilling. Main principles of work of the service companies of the Caspian Region”
At the present time, the company takes part in a number of international tenders for the provision of integrated drilling and well management services. The purpose is to expand the geography of the company through entering the international market, and fulfillment of the mission of the company, which is: To restore Azerbaijan’s historically leading role in modern world drilling industry.
