Protection and improvement of the environment is the major mission of EKOL Engineering Services CJSC. We are approaching to the 20th anniversary of the Contract of the Century with big achievements. Development of EKOL is the result of successful implementation of the oil-gas strategy of National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, successful internal and external policy of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The country is developing rapidly and has already gained big economic and political successes.
Improvement of the environmental condition in the oil industry became the major line of activity the CJSC in 2014. It must be noted that the CJSC provides its customers high level services. The departments of the EKOL Engineering Services CJSC carry out an active work in different directions. In particular, within 7 months of 2014 the Wastes Treatment Department (WTD) of EKOL Engineering Services CJSC properly fulfilled wastes management contract obligations to the customer-organizations. Cleaned within 6 months of this year were 4 mln 900 thousand cubic meters of industrial and stream waters flowing from Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery (area of the workshop #9) to the 6th section of the Department as well as over 6.8 thousand tonnes of oil slime emerged as the result of production process. Over 6 mln 590 thousand cubic meters of industrial waste waters (area of the workshop #9 of Azerneftyagh Oil Refinery) were cleaned at section 7 of WTD. Besides, up to 6 thousand tonnes of oil slime was processed and neutralized. In the accounting period of this year, about 109 tonnes of paraffin, flowing from AAS-EKOL LLC, were separated from water and mechanical impurities on the section #8 (Paraffin workshop).
In 2014 the CJSC received over 40,800 cubic meters of different wastes (slime, oil mud, oil-soaked water and soil, industrial and fecal waste waters, mechanical impurities, etc) from the following customer organizations: emergency rescue system of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Maritime Oil Fleet of the State Caspian Shipping Company, Servis AA, AAS-ATE LLC, AAS-ATE, Suraxanı OYL Opereyşn Kompani S.A., SOCAR Department for Ecology and Oil Pipelines, Gas Processing Plant, AAS-EKOL LLC and other organizations. According to the operating procedure, all of these wastes were removed and neutralized by the Wastes Treatment Department.
In the accounting period of this year, the WTD took necessary measures in order to raise the quality of services it provides and ensure protection of the environment. Separating machine FOX-15 produced by the Swedish company Alfa-Laval has been commissioned. Overhaul maintenance work was carried out on the decanting unit.
Noteworthy is also the activity of the EKOL Engineering Services CJCS’s Land recultivation department (LRD) which successfully performed operations on greenery planting at rehabilitated lands of oil fields in the accounting period of 2014. Besides, the Department also carried out work on lending of agrotechnical services, recovery of the landscape and removal of oil polluted lands from the area of the Baku White City project.
Speaking about agrotechnical services, it must be noted that the staff of Land Recultivation Department carried out a broad-scale work on the following facilities in the first half of 2014: field area of H.Z.Taghiyev OGPD of Azneft PU – 5,624 trees, field area of Absheronneft OGPD of Azneft PU – 15,400 trees, field area of Bibiheybat OGPD of Azneft PU – 49,012 trees, area of SOCAR Gas Processing Plant – 8.890 trees. The work involves agrotechnical service for different sorts of trees and ornamental bushes. In total, they make 78,926 trees. Along with performance of seasonal work at sites of the LRD, targeted works are also carried out for extending greenery planting and creation of conditions for normal development of plants.
According to the schedule, the LRD also arranged removal of oil polluted lands from the area of Azerneftyagh oil refinery located in the area of the Baku White City project. A total of 656 thousand cubic meters of land, polluted with oil, was removed within 7 months. 2 thousand 880 cubic meters of industrial waste water were taken from pools of the project site.
Along with it, in 2014 the Ecological monitoring department provided high service ecological, monitoring and laboratory services to customer-organizations, preparing normative-technical ecological documentation. This work was highly evaluated by customers.
According to the agreement reached with Azneft PU, in the accounting period of this year the mobile monitoring group of EMD carried out, based on the calendar plan, monitoring at the following facilities: May 28, Neft Dashlary, Absheronneft, N.Narimanov OGPD, production sites of SOCAR Complex Drilling Works Trust, gas processing plant, representative office of Balakhanı Operating Company LTD in Azerbaijan and AzGerneft LLC. A quarterly report was prepared and submitted to a customer following the results of the monitoring. Besides, research work was carried out for determining the composition of the formalized waste water on production sites of the Complex Drilling Works Trust.
Noteworthy is also a considerable amount of work carried out by the Complex Research Laboratory (CRL) of the EMD. In particular, physicochemical and chemical analyses of samples taken from units operating on production sites of the CJSC were carried out.
This year EMD’s division for normative and technical documentation continued working fast over preparation of ecological normative-technical documentations for Bibiheybat, Siyazanneft, N.Narimanov and H.Z.Taghiyev OGPD, SPC for maintenance and renting of drilling rigs Dalma, material-technical base department, department for plugging and growth of production performance and Star Beton Production LLC. Besides, ecological normative and technical documentation meant for facilities of Azneft PU, Absheronneft, May 28, H.Z.Taghiyev OGPD, gas storage department, Gobustan transport department, department for plugging and growth of production performance was prepared and submitted to customers in compliance with appropriate procedures.
EKOL Engineering Services devotes big attention to development of its business. Thus, internal audit of management systems integrated in the CJSC was held in the first half of 2014. EKOL engineering Services is actively engaged in broadening ties both domestically and overseas. In addition to SOCAR-run enterprises, the CJSC established business relations with many local and foreign companies.
EKOL Engineering Services attaches importance to introduction of innovations as well. One of the major tasks that SOCAR EKOL Engineering Services CJSC faces is the application of the advanced techniques and technologies when cleaning oil slime and polluted lands on oil fields as well as waste waters. Therefore, regular meetings are held with foreign companies.
EKOL Engineering Services CJSC continues a targeted activity to fulfill tasks, that SOCAR faces, aimed at improvement of the environmental condition on oil-gas industry sites and wastes management. The CJSC ensures high-level implementation of priority environmental projects.
