Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Mammadov, the transport infrastructure is the most important link of the economic development of Azerbaijan. How do you evaluate the development of this sector? 

Ziya Mammadov, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan, located at the junction of East and West, has managed to achieve high results in the field of state building and social-economic development under the leadership of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev. Nowadays, this policy is successfully implemented by his follower President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Grandiose projects are implemented in the country. Dynamic development is being observed in all areas. A social-political life of the republic stepped into a new stage of development and all of it happens against the background of the accelerated economic development of the country. 

Large-scale and grandiose operations are carried out in the transport sector of the country. Big projects based on the most advanced technologies have been implemented. The operation of the transport sector, which plays particular role in the development of the social-economic sphere of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has in recent years been aimed at improvement of the transport system in order to fully meet transportation needs of the population and economy. Requirements, aimed at rational organization of work and the current situation in the transport sector, are currently in the focus of attention of the Ministry of Transport. So, relevant activities are implemented as a part of the ongoing state programmes.
