Possessing DWDM, IP/MPLS, Satellite networks based on state-of-art technologies,  Delta Telecom Ltd is one of the main telecommunication operators in the region. As a result of its high level activity Azerbaijan became the center of region’s transit communication.

Delta Telecom Ltd has installed the largest Internet Backbone in the region and provides high quality services of Internet Backbone to Azerbaijan providers as well as to Georgia, Iran, Iraq providers.

Based on DWDM and IP-MPLS technologies - the main conductor part of Azerbaijan information resources - Delta Telecom uses available fiber-optic cables as well as develops fiber-optic cable, DWDM and IP-MPLS infrastructures in all regions in order to ensure the stableness communication. 

Guided by directions of President Ilham Aliyev to turn Azerbaijan into the Regional Telecommunication Center, Delta Telecom proceeds with implementation of successful projects in this field. 

Redundant DWDM and IP-MPLS networks of the Company cover all regions of Azerbaijan. 100Gb capacities are widely used in the existing DWDM and IP-MPLS networks. The redundant capacity of IP-MPLS networks has been increased up to 300Gb in Russia, Georgia, Iran directions. Currently the capacity of DWDM networks envisaged for EPEG project between Russia and Iran reached 700Gb per second. 

The capacity of external (foreign) connections of Internet Backbone has been increased up to 200 Gb per second. 

The activity of Delta Telecom carried out during the year in order to develop Internet in Azerbaijan aimed not only at development of International Backbone but at development of end-user market as well. 

Pursued by the Company price policy has positive impact on the quantity of broadband Internet users and is the factor which influences the quality of product and the expansion of application field. The delivery of International Internet channels to Azerbaijan and transit pass through several countries create additional expenses. These factors cause price increase. Delta Telecom tries to limit the influence of mentioned factors by using alternative geographic directions. Along with the development of Azerbaijan the purchased Internet capacities also increase and the purchase of large capacities allows getting additional discounts from Tier 1 providers.   

The pursued correct price policy enables end users to purchase more Internet capacities. Several projects have been implemented in order to increase quality at Internet Backbone during the past years. The company highly appreciates the Internet connection and implements heavy works to deliver international capacities from geographical straddle regions. Due to delivery of international capacities both through Russia and Georgia the service level indicators have reached 99.99%. That means the decrease of outages duration to several minutes during the year. 

Due to direct connections to  London Internet Exchange (LINX) and Deutsch Inetrnet Exchange (DE-CIX) points in addition to geographical straddle, quality has been improved by connection to different Tier-1 operators in Europe as well. Statistic indicators allow to state that the quality is increasing every year. As for quality of Internet delivered to end users, it is very difficult to discuss quality issues of Internet provided over dial-up technologies. But for broadband and mobile internet users serious works are carried out. More than 87% of local 2G\3G Backhauling services to Mobile operators, Internet providers, Banks and other numerous commercial users are provided over  DWDM  and IP-MPLS infrastructures. 

Carrier Ethernet and Metro Ethernet network infrastructures of Delta Telecom include DATA transfer and professional IP-MPLS services.  This network is the advantageous way of transmission for Internet services provided to local ISP. In order to meet increased demands of users as a result of development of information technologies in Azerbaijan, IP-MPLS network upgrade works were implemented in 2013 and consequently ample opportunities have been created for Company’s users. Currently Company’s users can connect to IP-MPLS network with 10G and more capacities.

Delta Telecom has implemented projects for ICT development in remote regions without any cable infrastructures. Currently even the most outlying districts have been provided with up-to-date ICT services. 

Delta Telecom prepared and implemented many important for the development of the ICT sector projects during the years of activity. As per statistical figures for 2013 year, the positive dynamics in increase of broadband Internet users can be observed. This indicates the development, but increase of the total use by 3 times is quite low relatively the procured possibilities. The increase of this figure is very important for Internet development.

Delta Telecom continuously implements projects in order to keep leader positions in this field. One of such projects is a Data Center. This center provides hosting, Data and “backup” services. In order to urge development of CDN technologies a Data Center infrastructure occupying a wide territory has been built. Infrastructure has been contemplated for development and placement of regional content recourses. Mirrored and cached DATA of such content providers as Google and Youtube are keeping on this platform.  The fourth server of Google has been placed in our Data Center in 2013. The capacity of Data Center is quite large. The main goal of implementing works is to relocate local content placed in foreign DATA Centers to our Data Center. In order to relocate the mentioned content even free of charge high quality services are provided. Currently the half of national resources has been moved and the works on creation of new content are carried out. The new IBM PureFlex system favoured to enhancement was installed in Data Center in 2013. Specialists are providing  twenty-four-hours support and favourable conditions for placing of all sites and portals of Azerbaijan. The energy provision, the cooling systems, control and management have been arranged on the high level.
