Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Majidov, to what extent has the appearance of the Sea Front changed since the establishment of the Department? 

Nazim Majidov, Deputy Head of Seafront Boulevard Department under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan: Baku Sea Front Boulevard is going to celebrate its 104th anniversary in 2013. In 1909 Baku engineer Mammadhasan Hajinski advanced an initiative to build a boulevard opposite his house, i.e. from “Gyz Galasi (The Maiden Tower) right to Azneft Square. It is the date that marks the start of the history of boulevard. A new Department of the Seafront Boulevard under the Cabinet of Ministers was established in accordance with Azerbaijan President’s order on January 10, 2008. It is the year when the reconstruction of the boulevard, its improvement and expansion of areas for greenery planting, demolition of old buildings, replacement of old dangerous carousels and merry-go-rounds with newer and more modern ones, as well as the process for expansion of the boulevard territory in two directions starts. Today the Baku Seafront Boulevard has gained the status of the most beautiful boulevard of the world. All of this is an indicator of change of the boulevard appearance.
