Caspian Energy (CE): Your Excellency, how would you evaluate the ongoing integration processes across the EU? What are their major challenges?

Victor-Viorel Ponta, Prime Minister of Romania: The enhanced economic governance achieved so far within the EU reflects the Member States' commitment to move towards a genuine Economic and Monetary Union.

The major challenges rise from respecting the two guiding principles: greater responsibility and greater solidarity. Decisions should be taken, as much as possible, in the EU27 format, thus preserving the unity and cohesion within the EU. 

Furthermore, we should avoid creating a multi-speed Europe or new barriers on the path of joining the Euro Zone.
