All economic spheres of our country, especially the oil-gas industry, reached a new stage of development owing to pragmatic and purposeful work of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.  The new oil strategy set by Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev keeps yielding results. 

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), playing an important role in dynamic development of our republic, has also turned into a modern world class company. 

Accordingly, all of this positively affects the work of Ekol Engineering Services CJSC. Just like during previous years, Ekol made a worthy contribution to the ecological service spheres in 2012, especially to clean-up of soils and industrial waste waters at oil industrial areas, treatment and utilization of oil sludge, planting of greenery at oil fields, at previously rehabilitated oil polluted lands, etc. 

In particular, the operative monitoring service of DEM (Department for Ecological Monitoring) of Ekol Engineering Services CJSC conducted an ecological monitoring at production areas of Azneft PU last year, including the areas of N.Narimanov, May 28th, Neft Dashlari (Oil Rocks) and Absheronneft OGPDs. The similar work was held at the areas of the drilling department “Absheron”, backfilling department, “Gazmaservis and logistics” department of the Complex Drilling Works Trust, and production areas of SOCAR Gas Processing Plant. The client-companies were provided with reports upon completion of these operations. 

DEM’s division for normative-technical documents has developed the mentioned documentation for the Material and Technical Support Department, Backfilling and Oil Recovery Increase Department, Gobustan Transportation Department, Neft Dashlari, May 28th and Siyazanneft OGPDs, AzGerneft LLC and Surakhanı Oil Operation Company S.A. The division has also carried out an environmental impact assessment, initial assessment of the ecological situation and prepared other ecological documents for operating company Bahar Energy. These documents were prepared according to the plan, present legislation, standards, legal documents, methodical guidelines and recommendations based on production mode and location of an enterprise. 

Wastes treatment department (WTD), one of the other subdivisions of Ekol Engineering Services CJSC, has also completed its tasks successfully. 

In particular, the wastes treatment department has successfully fulfilled contract obligations owed to clients. 28 thousand tons of oil sludge was utilized and neutralized by means of technical facilities at the section # 6 of the Wastes Treatment Department (an area of the workshop # 9 at Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery). 10 mln 419 thousand cubic meters of waste waters were purified at the area of the oil refinery. 

11 mln 861 thousand cubic meters of industrial waste waters were purified at section # 7 of the wastes treatment department (the area of the workshop # 8 at Azerneftyagh Oil Refinery). Over 5 thousand tons of oil sludge was also utilized there. Besides, over 138 tons of scraper paraffin delivered from AAS-EKOL LLC has also been separated from water and mechanical mixture at WTD’s section # 8 throughout a year. 

Just like in pervious years, the wastes treatment department carried out necessary operations for ensuring production continuation, improvement of engineering services and environmental protection in 2012. For this purpose, maintenance work was carried out at mechanical devices for cleaning WTD’s sections # 6 and # 7. Basic importance was attached to introduction of new technologies. 4 tanks with the capacity of 1000 tons were built in the tank park of the wastes treatment department under support of SOCAR last year. 

Neutralization of sewage waters at the area allocated for the construction of the Baku Olympic stadium (Sabunchu district) was one of the priority projects the wastes treatment department implemented in 2012. Owing to the operative work of the wastes treatment department, the project was implemented at high speed and over 738 cubic meters of sewage waters were neutralized within a year. The project implementation is ongoing successfully. 

The department introduced new technologies as well as conducted maintenance work at mechanical purification machines last year. 

4 tanks with the capacity of 1000 tons were installed under support of SOCAR. 

In 2013, WTD began performing operations for fulfilling assigned tasks on wastes management. The work on drying-out of small lakes and removal of sewage waters around the area of the “Baku White City” project are also underway. 

Among other main projects that Ekol Engineering Services is engaged in noteworthy are purification of oil polluted lands at areas of SOCAR, recultivation and planting of greenery. These operations are performed by the Land Recultivation Department of Ekol Engineering Services. Just like in previous years, the department managed to get its job done successfully in 2012 as well. 

Along with it the Land Recultivation Department implemented a project on neutralization of oil sludge, storage, transportation of polluted soil in the area of the “Green Island” included to the Baku White City project. 

Besides, an agrotechnical treatment was applied throughout a year to 80,000 types of different plants, trees and bushes in the area of “Gala” (H.Z.Taghiyev OGPD), Absheronneft, Bibi-Heybat and in the area of SOCAR Gas Processing Plant. A new system of drip irrigation was installed at areas where greenery was planted. 

AAS-EKOL LLC, established under support of Ekol Engineering Services CJSC and the Dutch Company AA Services in 2012, fulfilled its wastes treatment obligations properly. The purposeful work was performed for improving technological processes and strengthening the material-technical base. Besides, an overall construction work was carried out at production facilities and administrative buildings as well. 

In order to ensure high-level implementation of ecological projects, Ekol Engineering Services CJSC undertakes all necessary measures for applying and using nanotechnologies in all spheres of its activity.
