A new, highly promising and peace-oriented format of cooperation is emerging in our region.

According to AZERTAC, President Ilham Aliyev said this in a press statement following a high-level meeting between Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan. The head of state called this day historic. 

The President of Azerbaijan will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which will be held in Tianjin (Northern China) on August 31 – September 1, the Assistant to the Chinese Foreign Minister (at the rank of Deputy Minister), Liu Bin, reported.

He noted that the event will be attended by heads of state and government from more than 20 countries and 10 international organizations, TASS reports.

“Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet with the leaders of over 20 foreign countries and 10 international organizations on the banks of the Haihe River to summarize the SCO’s successful experiences, promote its development and restructuring, and unite its members for cooperation and joint work,” the diplomat said.

He specified that the summit will also be attended by: the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet, the President of the Maldives Mohamed Muizzu, the Prime Minister of Nepal Sharma Oli, the President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, the President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim, and the Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

The heads of international organizations and multilateral mechanisms, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, have been invited to the event.
