President Ilham Aliyev: The hosting of the 17th ECO Summit in Karabakh, in Khankendi, holds special significance

"The hosting of the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in Karabakh, in Khankendi, holds special significance," President Ilham Aliyev emphasized during his speech at the 17th ECO Summit. According to him, Azerbaijan has established a highly positive investment climate, with around $350 billion invested in the country's economy over the past 20 years, half of which are foreign investments. "Azerbaijan ensures the energy security of many countries and exports natural gas to 12 countries through various pipelines. By this indicator, we are among the global leaders," the Head of State said.

Tajikistan is interested in creating a regional energy market, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon stated during the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

“Tajikistan supports the implementation of projects aimed at integrating the energy systems of ECO member states. The construction of the CASA-1000 power transmission line is of particular importance for the countries of the region,” he noted.

According to him, one stage of the project was recently completed — the 500 kV Datka-Sughd transmission line between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was commissioned.

“At the same time, we are interested in forming a regional energy market within the ECO framework. In this context, developing a strategy for the region’s energy resilience is highly relevant. The implementation of such projects will contribute to the growth of production and export of green energy and, overall, to the promotion of a green economy,” President Rahmon stated.

We see the hosting of the Summit in Khankendi as a symbol of Azerbaijan’s commitment to peace, sustainable development, and regional integration, said Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov during the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Trend reports.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will connect with the Trans-Afghan corridor, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated during his speech at the 17th OIC Summit.

“In light of recent geopolitical developments and disruptions in global logistics systems, creating alternative logistics chains remains a priority. In this context, the launch of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project was an important step. In the future, this railway line will be connected with the Trans-Afghan corridor, opening new opportunities for the effective integration of transit routes in the region,” he said.
